About Lake District Pubs

Lake District Pubs is a website dedicated to showcasing all the wonderful pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants in and around the Lake District National Park.

What began as an interesting website project quickly turned into a great idea. It was so difficult finding a list of all the pubs, bars and cafes in the region – in a sensible, well thoughtout manner – we decided to create one ourself. Visiting the Lake District we wouldn’t know where to eat or drink and when planning a day out these are serious considerations.

We also appreciate that while the website name and domain are about pubs, we also include bars, cafes and restaurants (and occasionally venues inbetween) and the reason is quite straightforward: some businesses are both a pub and restaurant, some have rooms and might consider themselves more of a hotel, pubs also sell coffee and it’s common for people to pop in for a snack and a bite to eat while not partaking in alcoholic beverages at all. While strictly not a coffee shop, they are certainly venues people consider on a day out as a pit stop or destination, and as such the scope gradually started to creep wider. We also ended up including non-pub venues like coffee shops, cafes and restaurants because, well, why not to be honest. It all adds to the usefulness and resourcefulness of the site.
